In this project, I am going to be working on a famous bus route in Istanbul (500T) in order to redefine the city, and "renew" the transportation network through the data of the route.
500T is the third longest bus route in Istanbul. Unlikely the first and second longest routes, 500T acrosses Bosphorus and travels in the both continents. From the first stop to the last, length of the route is 88 km (54.68 miles), takes around 2 hours (in case there is no traffic jam), has 76 stops in 13 districts. The first bus departs at 4 am everday from Tuzla, the last one departs at 12 am from Bakirkoy, and arrives at Tuzla at 2 am. The only time the bus cannot be seen anywhere is between 12-2 am in a 24-hour. Even though departure times are quite often, finding a seat is usually an unmissable opportunity which may ease the oxygen-reduced-trip. In conclusion, my aim is to use "500T" as a new measurement unit, rename the other bus routes, and design various sized 500Ts for where the existing route cannot reach.
